We believe that people in supported accommodation, their family, advocates & carers are one family: our family.
We believe our family should have a collective voice & act as one to ensure residents with disabilities receive quality care.
We believe that by supporting one another & working together we can influence public policy to ensure there is real choice for residents with disabilities.
C.A.R.D. aims to stop the COMPULSORY transition of individuals from Disability Services Commission (D.S.C.) accommodation to non-government agencies.
C.A.R.D. has a view that in pursuing its primary aim it will grow into an independent family group providing support for families, advocates & residents & advocating on their behalf
C.A.R.D was formed in 2014 in response to the COMPULSORY changes to accommodation for D.S.C. clients in Western Australia. We are a group of family members, advocates, & concerned individuals who are passionate about attaining & preserving the quality of life that everyone has a right to, especially those who require care through disability. We stand for REAL CHOICE for people with disabilities, their families and advocates, through the overturning of the current compulsory transition policy.
Whether you’re a family member, guardian, friend or advocate of a person with disability, or just someone who thinks that forced transition of people in DSC accommodation is wrong, we’d love to hear from you!
